Environmental Forum Marks Third in Rayfield's Summer Series

CORVALLIS – Representative Dan Rayfield (D-Corvallis) will continue his four-part summer educational series with an environmental forum on August 14th from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library. The forum will feature a panel of political leaders and experts from across the state. Panelists will include Representative Ken Helm (D – Washington County), Representative Karin Power (D – Milwaukie), Leah Feldon, Deputy Director of the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, and Paige Spence, Oregon Conservation Network Director for the Oregon League of Conservation Voters.

“Oregonians count on us to protect our natural resources and fight climate change. I look forward to discussing our path forward on these important issues,” said Helm. Helm has over 20 years of experience as a land use attorney, and currently serves as the Chair of the House Committee on Energy and Environment and as a member of the Joint Committee on Ways and Means SubCommittee on Natural Resources.

The upcoming forum will begin with a presentation from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality on the state of Oregon’s environment, a discussion of the state’s recent successes, and the challenges that lie ahead. The forum will be followed by a question and answer period to allow the community to engage and ask questions.

“This is a great opportunity to engage directly with the community about critical issues surrounding our environment,” Power said. Power is the Associate General Counsel for The Freshwater Trust, and currently serves as the Vice-Chair for the House Committee on Energy and Environment and as a member of the Joint Committee on Ways and Means SubCommittee on Natural Resources.

The environmental forum will take place at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library from 7:00pm – 8:30pm on August 14th.
