Rayfield Statement on Oregon State Trooper Violation of Mask Mandate

SALEM – Representative Dan Rayfield (D – Corvallis) has released the following statement on the Oregon State Trooper’s disregard of Governor Brown’s mask mandate:

“The actions of these law enforcement officers are unacceptable. The requirement to wear a mask is based on sound public health policy, is supported by leaders of all political parties, and should not be used to further divide our communities. These law enforcement officers should be held accountable.

“Public health officials have said time and time again that wearing a mask is key in reducing the spread of the novel coronavirus. Our office will continue to rely on guidance from the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC). Masks are not and should not be political.”
